Essentials of Austrian Odyssey:

A slow and easy tour joining two of Europe's greatest cities – Munich and Vienna. Following the Salzach River and then the lovely Danube, this is a cycling odyssey with a rich pageant of history unfolding all around. 

Germany – Starting in Munich we explore Bavaria, which is the largest federal state (Bundesland) in Germany and an area of sweeping alpine views, melodic meadows, friendly locals, towering castles, and frolicking forests.

The Czech Republic – In the sublime setting of the Southern Bohemian region of the Czech Republic, we make our way to Czesky Krumlov, a beautiful town with fine architecture from the 14th to the 17th Century and a center of culture and art.

Austria – A country of tremendous natural beauty and a refined culture, Austria sits at the crossroads of Europe. Comprising a musical mixture of influences from its vivid imperial history and luxurious landscapes, Salzburg and Vienna really do make the hills – and the world - come alive with the sound of music.

Cuisine: Bavarian cuisine is diverse, yet simple, hearty and rustic – true to its origins. In Austria every meal is a lesson in history and local custom, every kitchen the focus of traditions which span the centuries and hearken back to the days of an Empire on which the sun never set. Coffee houses, which embody much of Austrian culture, abound and exude a friendly, charming atmosphere. As any cyclist knows, good food is of great importance, if for no other reason than to replace all those lost calories!
