About Us

Gerhard Meng was born in Europe and currently spends six months on the continent every year. His true love for travel has taken him to more than 100 countries and on 152 individual journeys to Europe. Since starting Gerhard's Bicycle Odysseys in 1974, he has led cycling tours to various destinations in Europe, and to China, Sri Lanka, Australia, and New Zealand.

Darlene is from the Pacific Northwest. She has been associated with Gerhard’s Odysseys since the mid-80s, traveling with Gerhard throughout Europe, New Zealand, to Vietnam, Africa, and Australia. The epitome of cheerfulness and ever ready to give great tips on shopping, sightseeing, walking, and dining, Darlene is a fantastic accompaniment and positive force on all tours.

Tina has been working with Gerhard since the 80s, accompanying GBO bike trips all over Europe. Having done part of her studies in Vienna, Austria, and currently residing in Paris, Tina enjoys the French and German languages and feels at home in Europe. She loves traveling and sharing the gastronomy, history, culture, and nuances of countries with others.

Tim has been involved with GBO since 1983. A frequent
European traveler since 1967, his extensive background
in health and emergency services supports the
comfort, care and safety of tour participants and
their equipment.

Catherine is our local expert in the French Alsace region. She loves to share her knowledge with other people and in addition to her French and English skills, she also speaks fluent German and Chinese.
